Single Fiber SM 2.5G/1.25G Sfp Transceiver Module Class B+ GPON OLT SC 20KM

FA-TCSGPS13-20B,Single Fiber SM 1310nm/1490nm Class B+ GPON OLT SFP Fiber Optic Transceiver SC 20KM

Almost all new fiber optic transceiver transmit data between switches, firewalls, servers, routers and other devices through two optical fibers. The first optical fiber is specially used to receive data from network devices, and second fiber is specially used to transmit data to network devices. However, a bidirectional optical transceiver (named BIDI fiber transceiver) breaks the rules.

BIDI optical module uses WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) bidirectional transmission technology. It realizes two-way transmission on one optical fiber. The BIDI fiber optic transceiver has only one port to transmit and receive signals on a fiber optic cable through an integrated bidirectional coupler. Therefore, it must be used paired.

The main difference between the BIDI fiber module and the traditional dual fiber bidirectional optical transceiver is that the BIDI fiber optic transceiver is equipped with a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) coupler, or duplexer, which converges and separates the data transmitted on one optical fiber according to the wavelength. Because of this, the BIDI optical transceiver is also considered to be a WDM optical module.

In order to work efficiently, the BIDI fiber optic transceiver must be used in pairs. By tuning the diplexer to match the desired wavelength of the transmitter and receiver, we can achieve two-way transmission of data.

For example, if the paired BIDI fiber optic transceiver is connected to the device A (uplink) and the device B (downlink), then:

The diplexer of the optical transceiver A must have a 1550nm receiving wavelength and a 1310nm emission wavelength. The diplexer of the fiber optic transceiver B must have a 1310nm receiving wavelength and a 1550nm emission wavelength.

The most obvious advantage of using BIDI optical modules, such as SFP+ BIDI and SFP BIDI fiber optic transceivers, is to reduce the cost of fiber wiring infrastructure. The BIDI optical transceiver reduces the number of ports on the optical fiber panel, and also reduces the occupancy space for the optical fiber management pallet, and reduces the number of optical cables needed.
